On August 2, another community building craft circle was held for seniors in Sunnybrook and Intown Towers in Mt. Vernon. New Bridges supplied the food and craft supplies, this time also including (by request) crochet needles, and a couple of small donated, refurbished sewing machines. After a couple of hours of smiles, chatting, and knitting, the basis for new friendships were laid.
With the assistance of NBCZ volunteer Val, we returned to Intown Towers to teach seniors how to weave a mini raffia basket. However, as so often happens, we were inspired by the expert crocheting of resident Carol, and everyone wanted to make slippers instead-- and did!
