What is the New Bridges mission?

New Bridges is devoted to the promotion of a just society and the exploration of inter-culturalism and diversity in Westchester County and beyond. We intend to accomplish this objective by providing a forum for educational and social exchange to encourage increased self and social awareness as well as an appreciation of the cultural histories of the communities that comprise the American Mosaic.

How do I join?

Please join one of our seven member organizations, sign up for our mailing list, or attend one of our events!  Volunteers are needed and welcome.

Can I join even if I don’t live in Westchester County?

Yes! While we and our events are currently based in the Greater New York metro area, we hope that over time we will be able to expand and share our message with more people.

Do you have programs for seniors?

We currently run a multicultural craft circle to reduce isolation and promote socialization among seniors of different backgrounds in affordable senior residential buildings in Mt. Vernon. If there is interest and we find the volunteers, we would love to expand and introduce more programming in other locations.

Do you have a youth chapter?

Yes!  NBC-Z is our group for teens ages 13-19. We offer volunteer hours, leadership opportunities, and service opportunities to youth who are open to making friends from a different background.  Visit this page for more information on the latest for NBC-Z.

My group is interested in becoming a partner. How do we join?

Please contact us using the form above and we will be glad to discuss.  When choosing partners, we are intentional in promoting outreach between groups that historically have had sparse or contentious relationships, and are seeking to make new, friendly contacts within our context as fellow Americans. We hope to forge novel connections and alliances, and to avoid redundancy with other organizations or projects.
